Sumbawa is Lombok’s quieter neighbour to the east. Its small islands and clear water make it one of the most rewarding side trips you can take from Lombok, but it does take some planning.
How you get there
Trips start with a drive to Kayangan port in East Lombok, where you take the car ferry across to Sumbawa. Because the road trip and the crossing take time, most Sumbawa trips run over more than one day.
